The time it takes to heat your home is a good indicator of how efficiently your boiler is working. Once your boiler starts, it shouldn’t take longer than 45 minutes for the heat to reach the top floor of your home. If it does take more than 45 minutes, you should have it serviced or consider replacing it.
3. What Colour is The Flame?
Checking the the burner flame is an easy way to see whether your boiler is working efficiently. The flame should be short and blue. If the flame is red or orange, it’s a clear sign that your boiler is not functioning properly.
4. Are There Any Leaks?
Check to see if there’s water leaking from the boiler’s discharge pipe. If there is, there’s a problem with a valve or pipe. Leaking water can lead to rust and sludge in the system, making things more difficult and expensive to fix.
5. Does it Make Any Noises?
A healthy boiler shouldn’t make any real noise. If you hear a strange whirring or clunking sound, there could be a problem with the pump or fan. You should get this checked out as soon as possible.
